On the 2nd and 3rd November we received our Ofsted inspection, during this visit the school was graded on 4 areas:
The quality of education: RI
Behaviour and attitudes: Good
Personal development: Good
Leadership and management: Good
The school received three gradings of good and one requires improvement, which means that the overall effectiveness of the school remains in the category of RI until all four good gradings are achieved.
The final report is now ready for you to view on our website. We ask that you take the time to read the report fully as it highlights how much progress has been made since our last inspection in February 2019. Whilst we are all disappointed with the overall judgement, the report reads positively and recognises that the pandemic has impacted on progress within some subject areas.
Key findings from the report;
Leaders work hard to provide the very best education and care for pupils who attend Pen Mill.
Early reading and phonics are a strength
Leaders, including trustees, have created a strong culture of safeguarding.
Children with SEND are identified quickly and supported well in class.
Pupils are safe, well looked after and enjoy their time at Pen Mill.
What we need to do to improve:
In some subjects the key skills, knowledge and language that pupils need to learn needs to be more explicit. This will enable pupils to build a deeper understanding of the subject.
The school is committed to improving the quality of education for all of our pupils and will continue to work on our new recommendations to improve our overall effectiveness.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mrs. Manning and the Board of Trustees.
