Implementation
Pen Mill Infant and Nursery School Curriculum Implementation.
The curriculum builds on children’s prior knowledge and a clear progression of skills is evident from nursery to year 2. We intend for all our learners to feel confident to challenge themselves, deepen their knowledge and embrace their desire for lifelong learning. Embedded within our curriculum are opportunities to promote parental involvement, providing parents with an insight into their children’s learning during our ‘Inspire Together’ and ‘Celebrate and Evaluate’ sessions.

Key Approaches to learning
- Clear professional development opportunities are available to all subject leaders.
- Middle leaders are experts in their subjects and drive the use of the most effective pedagogical implementation strategies for their area of learning through research and reading.
- A whole school commitment to chosen implementation strategies, fidelity to a scheme or initiative.
- Have access to the training and information they need to use the best implementation strategies
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other subject leads during network meetings.
- Have responsibility for adapting implementation techniques to support individual learners.
- High focus on learning rather than task completion
- A mastery-learning model which forms the basis of our approach to our teaching. This involves spending greater time going into depth within each subject.
We aim to ensure children have a solid, concrete understanding of subject knowledge and skills
- Understand real life applications wherever possible to make learning relevant and not abstract; nothing should be taught without a purpose.
- They know and use correct terminology and promote language development.
- The use of high quality texts and resources to support their teaching.
