‘Children see before they speak, make marks before they write, build before they can walk, but their ability to interpret what they observe; communicate what they think and feel; or make what they imagine and invent , is influenced by the quality of their art, craft and design education’.
Our Vision
At Pen Mill Infants and Nursery Academy we believe that Art in our school will give children the opportunity to develop their creativity and express themselves through different media. Valuable time is provided for children to explore how, through manipulation and development of skills within the seven elements of art; line, shape, texture, colour, form, space and tone/value, they can reach their full potential.
Children will be encouraged to appreciate that art is for all; to acquire and apply skills and exceed their own expectations. Above all, children at Pen Mill Infants and Nursery Academy will develop enjoyment and satisfaction in their art.
Children will be inspired by the work of different artists whose individual styles will allow them to observe and appreciate the vast array of what art can look like and know that art is so much more than drawing or painting carefully.
At Pen Mill Infants and Nursery Academy we want to celebrate art in our culture and community as well as the wider world.
